Automated Key Delivery: Overview


If your hotel's PMS is integrated with OpenKey HOST, you can issue and manage mobile keys by updating the reservations within the property management system. This communications allows the PMS to deliver check-in, room and departure date updates, and check-out information to OpenKey.  Upon delivery, OpenKey processes the data and issues or updates the mobile key automatically.

 As a reminder, you can still issue plastic keys along with mobile, as long as you follow the proper procedure laid out by your lock manufacturer.  Find out more about how to issue both mobile keys and plastic keys for the same reservation here

Here are the items that can be updated from the guest's reservation in the PMS:

  • Check-in
  • Check-out
  • Extending stay
  • Early check-out
  • Room change
  • Troubleshooting

Here are the items that need to be updated from OpenKey HOST:

  • Late check-out (except Springer Miller Systems SMS)
  • Troubleshooting
